Smart Brain Food for College
If you are anything like the normal college student then you probably don't want to nor do you know how to cook. What you do probably have though is a microwave. If you live on campus you might have a meal plan, but they can be costly, the food is hit and miss and let's face it, it's 11:20 P.M. and you are going to be up writing that 10 page paper you waited to the last minute to do, and the cafeteria is closed. You need something now. So here are some quintessential cheap and easy ways to feed your mind and body.
First, there are the famous, or infamous, Ramen noodles. Everyone knows about them, but don't count them out. There were times I lived off these 50 cents bags of instant goodness. Just add water and get ready for a little MSG. They even have multiple flavors and if you really want to ruin them you can search online and find recipes to mix them into salads or bake them into casseroles. Yeah, right.
Frozen foods are another great option. I'm talking about the Costco sized stuff you can buy and nuke for a quick meal. My personal favorites always included corny dogs (add ketchup for more fun), burritos and taquitos, but there are plenty of others if you get bored.
If you grew up in America, you undoubtedly grew up on breakfast cereal. You probably can't afford a lot of name brands, but a big bag of knock off Lucky Charms can really hit the spot in the morning, or night, and last quite some time. Who wouldn't want to sit down to a nice bowl of Apple Dapples or Crispy Hexagons. Every grocery store in America has them and part of the fun is figuring out exactly what cereal they are really supposed to be. It is also a great way to eat all the junk cereals your mom wouldn't let you try when you were a kid.
Sandwiches may seem like another no-brainer, but don't forget about them. Bread is cheap, and most of the stuff you put in between is too. Especially if you like peanut butter and jelly, and if you get bored there are dozens of sandwiches to experiment with, make it a game with your roommates. Ever try peanut butter, banana and honey? It's the bomb.
Lastly, local watering holes will also have great deals. Seriously, they love college students and at any given point in time, on any given day, there is a $4 burger and drink deal waiting for you. You may not get a lot of studying done but you will be fed well. To further your education go to education air force and see all they have to offer.
There you go, some quick and easy ways to eat and live in your college days. Is it healthy? Not really, but then again you are young and in COLLEGE, you will be fine and getting good home cooked meals and clean laundry is what your parents use to lure you into coming back home occasionally.
